{{Shelby | Senior Portraits}}

When I'm getting ready for a session, I try to think ahead of time about poses, locations, jokes, topics of conversation.
I try to think about where to have her put her hands and techniques I should use as I shoot.
I look at inspiration photos and make mental notes.

But then (I can admit this, right?), I just totally forget all that.
I start to get to know someone or get to see them in a new light and start seeing all the possibilities of this spot and this person.
And then the photographs just keep on clicking.

As I see the location, I get ideas. I get inspired.
I see how she stands and we look at some photos together.
We try some things that work. And some things that just don't.
It seems that anything I plan ahead of time doesn't work as well as the things that happen because of the time and space we are in together.

That's one of the things I like about shooting in different and new locations all the time.
Being inspired.
I feel like the same thing can't work twice because the person is different, there's a different feeling, different weather, different everything.

I was inspired by Shelby's ideas and her willingness to trespass and stand on treacherous rocks and then pose and smile.
I've done some fun shoots, but this one was amazing!
Shelby was delightful and our locations couldn't have been better. Locations that she picked.
In fact, I take very little credit for how incredible these photographs are. They practically took themselves.
I feel lucky to have been able to capture this milestone in Shelby's life.

Shelby, I wish you a fantastic senior year!
