Graham | Minnehaha Falls

Minnehaha Falls holds one of my favorite adventure memories from days gone by.

Two of my best friends and I got lost trying to find parking (this was in the days before that nice parking lot - I think...) 

and then headed the wrong direction down the trail only to be rained on while we trekked back up the trail to find the Falls at a slow drip.

We took pictures, jumped in puddles, and then tried to warm our hands with the car's defroster.

On this trip, I drove right past the entrance to the parking lot because it was carefully hidden in the fifth turn of a round-about. 

This particular day was hot, humid, and filled with very different photo opportunities. 

And the Falls were bursting.

Graham is from Minneapolis born and raised and chose this location for his senior pictures.

He claims to hate photos, but was able to go along with all of our ideas and muster a smile along the way. 

Luckily we started with the tie and ended with TMNT. 

As we were finishing I laughingly commented, "Now all we need is a manhole cover!" And then we found one :)

Collin | Swimmer

Collin's Senior Picture Extravaganza was not yet over after our many hours together in the Fall :)

His swimming is a passion and a gift - his team is actually headed to State soon!

There are obvious perils of being a photographer. Many of them involve water.

Balancing dangerously over a bridge. Taking off your shoes and hopping in to get a great reflection shot.

Bringing photography equipment to a steamy school pool

Having wet socks because you forgot to wear flip flops, but stomped around in puddles anyway because THAT is what a good photographer does.

And this is what it gets you.

the Phillips wedding

I was absolutely honored to be asked to work with a fantastic photographer and fun friend, Danica Donnelly.

Danica and I had the fortune to have a road trip together before arriving in Milwaukee, WI, for this wedding.  

Having time to talk through the days and discuss styles and understand her needs as the main photographer made us 

both feel very comfortable as soon as we stepped into the wedding rehearsal.  Having time to laugh, enjoy This American Life, 

and eat together during the six hour trip didn't hurt, either!

Being an assistant to a photographer was much more fun than I could have imagined.  As an assistant, it was my job

to see all the extra things that were happening throughout and watch for the details and the expressions of the day.  

With a playful wedding party, an ecstatic couple, a beautiful reception venue, and a camera in my hand, there was 

bound to be something beautiful.  

And Eva and Danny certainly had a beautiful wedding day.
